Case study · Logo & Brand Identity
MerchMuse
Premium Merch Brand & Unboxing Packaging
MerchMuse sits between artists and their fans, and the whole proposition rests on artists trusting the platform to represent them well. The identity treats a merch delivery the way a fashion house treats a box: as an event, not a shipment.
01
Borrowing the language of luxury
Tour merch has a look, and it is mostly a poly mailer with a folded shirt inside. That is the genre MerchMuse had to get out of, because an artist lending a platform their name is trusting it with how their audience gets treated. So the identity takes its cues from premium fashion rather than from music retail: gold on matte black, and very little else asked to carry it.
The mark makes the product literal. A waveform runs out to either side of a linked MM monogram, the whole thing held inside a rounded capsule, so what the platform actually sells, an artist's sound turned into something a fan can hold, is built into the logo. Keeping every part of it on one continuous line weight is what stops it reading as a music app icon. It reads as a stamp.

02
The moment the box opens
Gold is easy to overdo, and heavy foil is the fastest way to look like you are trying to seem expensive instead of being careful. The treatment stays thin and the black stays matte, which lets the light do the work when someone turns a box in their hands. Restraint is the whole difference between the two, and on a platform selling an artist's credibility that difference is the brief.
Then the same mark returns, at a different size and in a different material, everywhere the package touches a fan: pressed into a wax style seal, small on tissue, alone on a thank you card, back at wearable scale on the apparel itself. Repetition is the pacing of an unboxing. Each appearance confirms the one before it, and opening the box starts to feel like an occasion.
